(ESSS North America, Inc. has an opening in Woburn, Massachusetts) Applications Engineer: Responsible for technical support and sales development for multi-physics modeling in a variety of application areas such as pharmaceutical, mining, agriculture and food processing industries. Develop and analyze mathematical models. Collaborate with customers in industry and academia to optimize process and equipment performance. Identify new markets and needs of existing customers in order to develop growth opportunities. Evaluate simulation results and assist engineers and manufacturing groups in understanding of underlying phenomena using post-processing tools. Develop custom models for multiphase systems (finite volume and discrete element numerical methods) using object-oriented programming languages. Collaborate with the R&D department to incorporate and test new models and features. Create technical documents and presentations for conferences, webinars, workshops and blog posts.Requires Masters in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Civil) and 6 months of experience in the job offered, or in any position involving the field of turbulent and multi-phase flows. Experience must include 6 months with the following: (1) developing and performing numerical models and scientific computing, and analyzing and evaluating those results, (2) computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and discrete element method (DEM) simulations, (3) fluid mechanics and transport phenomena, (4) theoretical aspects of turbulent and multi-phase flows, (5) multi-phase flow modeling including Euler-Euler and Euler-Lagrange numerical methods, (6) object-oriented programming languages and custom code development for finite difference or finite volume numerical methods, (7) designing and developing numerical models, validating simulations with experimental data, and analysis and documentation of the results, (8) using commercial computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools such as Ansys Fluent, Ansys Mechanical, or Ansys Workbench, (9) computer-aided design (CAD) packages for geometry drawing and cleaning, and (10) mesh generation and post-processing tools. Employer will accept graduate level research experience gained during Masters studies or graduate level coursework gained to satisfy all experience and skill requirements stated above.
